OUR STORY
Preserve South Dakota, formerly “The Historic South Dakota Foundation,” is a 501c3 non-profit corporation. It was founded in 1978 by a group of concerned citizens who saw a growing need to protect and preserve historic places throughout the state. Much of the uniqueness that is reflective of the character and history of the state, both urban and rural, is found in residential and commercial structures and sites that date back to an earlier era. We are a grassroots volunteer organization supported by those committed to historic preservation and economic development. Thank you for visiting our website and welcome to Preserve South Dakota.
I am the executive director for PSD and welcome your calls. Our organization is here to help you or direct you to assistance in preservation efforts of our state’s historic buildings, places, and sites. We know that preservation is a grassroots effort, but having the right information can sometimes make the effort easier.
As a note of introduction, some of you will probably recognize my name. I have been involved with historic preservation in South Dakota since 1992. I served on the board of directors for PSD from 1998 until now; five of those years were as president of the board. I resigned from the board to become the executive director. I look forward to taking your calls and assisting you in any way I can. Let me hear from you.
Sincerely, Linda Kluthe
